HE Lee's Summit
Historic Preservation Commission was established in April of 1988 by passage of Ordinance No. 3137 by the City Council. The Commission was also established
as a Certified Local Government (CLG) in October of 1988. The Historic
Preservation Commission has the authority to establish and maintain a
survey and inventory of historic properties within the city boundaries
and has the authority to recommend to the City Council the adoption of
ordinances designating single structures or sites, portions of structures,
groups of structures, landscape elements, works of art or integrated combinations
having a special historical, archeological or architectural interest or
value as local Landmarks or local Historic Districts.
Eligible properties located
in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, may be listed:
• in the National Register of Historic Places and/or
• in the Lee’s Summit Local Historic District Register.
